The Megaman Lair

"Fighting for everlasting peace!!"

The Classic Megaman Games

This is the Series that started it all, the Classic Series. The Classic Megaman Series was first released in 1987. The classic series' gameplay involved fighting 8 main bosses, called "Robot Masters", and then taking on the evil Dr. Wily. The 8 main bosses were weak against one another's weapon, so that you could fight the bosses in an order to make the game easier. Megaman had many different games, including a soccer based game. And he has cameo-ed in plent of other games too.

In all megaman games, you fight 8 robot masters, as I stated earlier.  Every time you beat a robot master, you get his weapon so you can use it on another boss. After that, you'd go through a fortress (or two) to reach wily. The games came out on the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Game boy, as well as the Playstation. The game boy game were different than the conventianal ones. For example, you'd have to go to space in some games, and sometimes there were robot masters from different games there too.

Megaman had a dog, named Rush, who first appeared in Megaman 3. He was a support dog, becoming anything from a coil to a jet to a underwater submarine. Dr. Light was Megaman's creator, as well as creating other robots. Protoman is Megaman's laid-back brother, who appeared in Megaman 3, sometimes challenging hm, and even having a real battle in Megaman 7. Overall, the Classic series was fun, and had a colorful cast of characters and robot masters, and the games never get old!

The series also had some games on the gameboy.  There were five of them, called the Rockman World series in Japan.  While the first three were nothing special, the series began to pick up in the fourth game.  His buster even had a kick to it!  In the fifth game, Megaman travels into outer space to combat Wily's robot masters, who are named after one of the planets, and their leader, Terra.  Interestingly enough, this is the only classic Megaman game where Wily isn't the final boss, as he is replaced by Sunstar.  There were also four robots (one in each game before V), who were sent to kill Megaman: Enker, Quint, Punk, and Ballade.

Capcom is currently producing a Megaman 9 for WiiWare.  It's a new game, but it's being done in an 8-bit style like the first 6 games.  It looks pretty interesting.  It also features the first female Robot Master; Splash Woman.
